WOW News – 25 March
Hi Vivienne, welcome to this week’s news from The Web on Wheels!
In this issue we’ll look at:
- forwarding emails – the right way;
- article: ‘Food by Design’; and
- a light-moment
In an effort to make the newsletters not quite so long, I’m going to alternate the Site to See with our Member’s Problem each week. Hopefully this will make the newsletter a bit easier to get through.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Just a quick word about the content of this message.
Throughout this newsletter there are pictures as well as various links to websites. Sometimes those links don’t work.
It’s NOT you!
Sometimes your computer, or the system you’re using (eg. Hotmail, Outlook) decide to look after your security and block your ability to go straight to an outside website or to download pictures. Sometimes it’s simply that your computer is set to get only plain text messages. So no matter what you do, you won’t get the nice looking, easy-clicking tricks, your message will be just as it says – plain text without any of the fancy stuff.
If a link doesn’t work, try looking on your screen, (usually toward the top of the email message) and see if there’s some sort of message saying something about the link not being allowed. It might say, “Click here to download pictures” or “to protect your privacy downloads have been prevented” or “links have been disabled” – or something similar. Most of the time, it also gives you the option to click in that message area and give your computer permission to go ahead and allow the picture to come onto your computer, or allow you to get to the website.
(Let me know if things don’t work as you expect and I’ll get it sorted for you.)
Until next week, please take good care of yourself.

This week’s problem and solution
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PROBLEM: Emails received displaying people’s email addresses.
SOLUTION: Enter addresses in Blind Carbon Copy field. (and delete displayed addresses)
I’ve had a rash of emails lately from friends with a joke, or something interesting they’d like to share with me.
You probably have these too.
Perhaps you’ve even done this yourself. You get a great email, and quickly click Forward to send it to your friends, as you just know they’ll LOVE it too.
So you type in their email addresses, or select them from your Contact List or Address Book.
THEN YOU PRESS SEND.
mmmm.
If you do this too, what happens is:
- The entire message gets sent and any attachments go along with it – great!
But what also happens, by forwarding the entire message; any email addresses that were included in the message that came to you, ARE FORWARDED TOO.
This picture might make things a clearer (even though I’ve blurred the email addresses)
In the example above:
- The first person sent their message to 21 people.
- The next person clicked forward, put in the email addresses of 19 of their friends and sent it.
- The next person received it, (me) with all 40 addresses clearly visible.
If that message got into the hands of an unscrupulous person who knows what they would do.
And besides, it is common courtesy not to display others’ email addresses.
So what’s the right way?
Putting an email address in the To: field is perfect if you’re sending to just one person.
BUT
If you’re sending your message to more than one person, you should use the Bcc: Field.
The ‘Bcc’ field means: Blind Carbon Copy, sometimes called Blind Courtesy Copy, or Blank Courtesy Copy.
They all mean the same thing – anyone entered in this field won’t see anyone else’s email address. That’s good for everyone. Keeps their email address private from other people, and if it falls into the wrong hands, keeps their address safe.
So now, you’ve got your addresses to send to, entered in the Bcc: field. But if you’re forwarding a message it might have the previous recipients addresses showing down in the message area.
DELETE THEM!
- Click in the message area, and look for where you see a bunch of email addresses.
- Highlight these and press delete.
- Highlight addresses, then press ‘Delete‘.
- If you want to write a message to your friend, go ahead and type whatever you want in the message area.
- Then press Send.
I’ll put a full article on this in our Articles area and a video in our Video Gallery on our member’s site, so you can see what I mean, but hopefully this will remind you to look after other people’s information. They, like you, don’t want your email addresses known to the wrong people.
Oh and if the Bcc: field isn’t displayed on your email screen, it’s easy to click on a button in the Options area to tell your computer to display the field.
If you’re stuck on this, I’ll show you how to do that in the Article and Video which I should have ready later in the week. If you’re a Full Access Member, just Reply to this message and I’ll sort it for you.
How are you?
This week’s article is a blend of an article by Cindi O’Meara from her newsletter in 2006 and an email (Called God’s Pharmacy) that was doing the rounds about the same time. I know of at least a few members who didn’t even have their computer in 2006, so you might not have seen it yet.
Even if you have seen it though, it’s still very interesting food for thought (pardon the pun).
Food by Design (extracts from Cindi O’Meara’s article)
I went to an amazing talk this month on health and “wellth”. I liked the way the speaker spelt ‘wellth’ as without your health and wellbeing; physically, emotionally and mentally then wealth is of no use.
The speaker, Don Tolman was not a doctor or a nutritionist but was a person that looked for the truth. He discovered a passage in the bible at the age of eight which sent him on a mission to find out the truth about health and food. 17 years later he found what it was and has shared it with many audiences. He said for 1000′s of years it has been known that when food resembles a body part then that food is specifically designed to nourish, strengthen and heal the body part.
Don calls this concept Food by Design.
Walnuts and The Brain
Walnuts look like a little brain – a right and left hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. Well guess what? The ancient scholars both eastern and western knew that walnuts helped the brain and science today proves that walnuts are one of the best foods for the brain. Many scientific studies show that much of the walnut’s nutrient contents are very helpful to the growth of the nervous system, performing complementary effects in the process of uptake by the brain. They are the nutrients that can be rapidly absorbed and utilised by the brain efficiently, for better cognitive processes, prevention from dementia and repair, growth and development of the brain.
Celery and Bones
The celery stalk is very similar to the chin and arm bone, the nutrients in celery have a strong correlation to strong bone growth. Celery (and bok choy and rhubarb) are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don’t have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Avocado and Uterus
The avocado looks like the uterus and it is interesting to note that it takes 9 months for an avocado to grow and ripen for picking. The nutrients in avocados are essential for the integrity of the reproductive system and research shows that avocados help prevent cervical cancer.
Tomatoes, Grapes and The Heart
Grapes hang in a cluster that looks like the heart and tomatoes when sliced have four chambers, just like the heart. It is a well known fact that tomatoes have powerful nutrients most particularly lycopenes that help not only the heart but circulatory system. As well, each grape looks like a blood cell and research today shows grapes are also a profound heart and blood vitalising food.
Carrots and The Eyes
Carrots have always been known to be good for the eyes. Next time you slice a carrot take a look, you will see something that looks a bit like the iris and pupil of the eye. Carrots are high in beta carotene. Beta-carotene helps to protect vision, especially night vision. After beta-carotene is converted to vitamin A in the liver, it travels to the retina where it is transformed into rhodopsin–a purple pigment that is necessary for night-vision. Plus beta-carotene’s powerful antioxidant actions help provide protection against macular degeneration and the development of senile cataracts–the leading cause of blindness in the elderly.
I thought that I’d pass this interesting ancient knowledge on. See how many foods you can find that look like body parts and then do a search on the internet, to find out more.
Kidney beans – actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Figs - are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of sperm as well to overcome male sterility.
Olives - assist the health and function of the ovaries.
Onions look like the body’s cells. Today’s research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.
We’ve always known that food, especially food from nature is excellent for health. I watched a television show called “Honey We’re killing the Kids”, and it astounded me that with the amount of information about good food being linked to health, that there are still families in Australia and the western world that still don’t get it. The one’s that don’t get it will be the ones who are debilitated with sickness, both mentally and physically. Make a conscious effort to start eating some brain food like walnuts and pecans.
Enjoy and happy changing habits.
END ARTICLE.
Cindi has some fabulous books on food – real food, not the muck you get in packets. If you’re interested in finding out more, here is a link to one of her packages – a book and accompanying Cook Book – Changing Habits Changing Lives: or to her website: where there is a ton of information of food.
The Golfer
The Golfer and his Caddy:
GOLFER: (screaming)
“You would have to be the worst caddy in the world!!”
CADDY:
“I doubt it – that would be too much of a coincidence.”
Bye for this week,
Smiles and best wishes
